Journal of Architectural Theory and Criticism

Architecture-Theory.com invites original research papers, theoretical essays, and critical reflections for upcoming issues of the journal. The journal is dedicated to advancing discourse in architectural theory, philosophy of architecture, and critical interpretations of the built environment.

We welcome contributions from scholars, researchers, practitioners, historians, and doctoral candidates working across architecture, urbanism, philosophy, cultural studies, and related disciplines. The journal aims to foster rigorous theoretical inquiry and critical debate on architecture as a cultural, philosophical, and spatial practice.

Scope of the Journal
The journal focuses on the theoretical foundations, philosophical interpretations, and critical analyses of architecture and the built environment. Contributions may address historical, contemporary, or speculative perspectives. Interdisciplinary approaches connecting architecture with humanities, social sciences, arts, and technology are strongly encouraged.

Types of Submissions
The journal accepts the following categories:

  • Research Articles (6,000 – 8,000 words)
  • Theoretical Essays (4,000 – 6,000 words)
  • Critical Reviews / Review Essays (2,000 – 3,000 words)
  • Book Reviews (1,000 – 1,500 words)

All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

Peer Review Process
All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality and scholarly integrity.

Submission Guidelines
Authors are requested to prepare manuscripts according to the journal’s submission guidelines:

  • Manuscripts must be written in English
  • Include title, abstract (150–250 words), and 5–7 keywords
  • Images must include proper credits and permissions

  • Expected Publication: 10/06/2026
